When Jude is seven she witnesses the murder of her parents and is taken away and raised by the man who killed her mother and father to the world of elfhame. A world in which immortal Faeries are real and Jude has no real power. As Jude comes to realise that in order to survive she must become just as cunning and deceitful as the fae being themselves. However with Prince Cardan lurking around nothing it set to go smooth.
I loved this so much. Holly Black does a fantastic job of creating the world of Elfhame. I think If your not a fan of royal politics you won’t like this. You are constantly witnessing Jude trying to figure out how to navigate court.
The amount of twist and turns this book makes for a truly exciting read. Jude is a perfect example of a morally grey character who you are constantly questioning.
The romance in also a nice subplot. A certain character definitely has my heart
