I always see this book on tiktok showcases as an enemies to lovers, although in my opinion this overlooks the political and economical underline this book has. It showcases abusive relationships within family and a social hierarchy that is placed upon individuals. The book is cleverly conveying these discussions but also allows for a fantasy twist and a clever plot. There are many different interesting and complex relationships seen and a clear, strong drive for the MC. I love the fact that it explores a world which isn’t meant for the Mc, focusing on the shortcomings and harsh environment they face. It allows their resilience to shine through, creating a complex character which enables the story to keep “rolling”. This book may not be for everyone, but the underline political concepts contracting with the relationships seen will leave you wanting to continue with the rest of the series!
