The Cruel Prince has been the highly anticipated first book in the Folk of the Air trilogy. This book had everything you could ever wish for in a young adult fantasy. There was intrigue, murder, romance and FAE! Jude and Tarryn have to go on a mysterious adventure after her parents are murdered after a mysterious stranger turns up at their doorstep... The setting is vivid, colourful and magical. The air of magic in this book was great... you never knew what the twist in the tale would be. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the sequel!
I found the contemporary components to the world very exciting, especially with the fae, fantasy world interwoven in between.
The fae in this book are unlike fae in other fantasy novels, they are quick witted, ruthless and cunning. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy genre with a contemporary twist.
