I read this book so long ago and I'm still mad about it. I just did not like this.

Fairy books really aren't my thing - I should have learned from my ACOTAR/ACOMAF experience. I'll admit this book wasn't awful. My main gripe is that this is 100% a setup book. It's one of those you read and get nothing from other than build up to the main story. This book is not the story Holly Black wants to tell. It's the background. And I am so bloody fed up of books being written as a series when the first book is so boring. God. Why am I reading 300 pages of a 370 page book before anything of importance happens? Either cut down your build up or write one long book? I'd much rather have a 600 page book with all the build up and lots of action than basically be taken advantage of by having to buy two books instead of one. Does that make sense?

Not my thing. Way too hyped. I feel like I've read this story 100 times.
