This is not what I expected and I don't understand the crazy high ratings as I found that it was a slow, dragging start and there didn't seem to be much direction or plot consistency. I like Cardan, whose character is very unlike what I expected based on what I've heard, and I hope he'll be more featured in book 2. The writing felt a bit young; I was surprised how un-fantasy this felt, in part due to immature writing and the lack of direction. It felt a bit too amateur to me, and none of the characters felt very fleshed out. The descriptions of Jude don't match her actions and I don't get the hype.
However I will continue with the series and hope that TWK is a better book! I'm sure it will be as I enjoyed the ending of TCP and I like Cardan.
