Not what I was expecting

So I went into reading this book with the expectation of some amazing enemy to lovers trope in mind, all because of the hype surrounding this series. It was no at all was I was expecting, and did not live up to what I wanted it to be.

Jude is a human, moved to the faerie world after some tragic event that leads to her parents passing. In the world this would of politics and fantasy creatures, Jude finds herself out of place but wanting to fit in, which is harder than you would think when there are powerful people making every effort to stop you from achieving this.

As the story develops, Jude becomes a stronger person. Her character development was my favourite part of this book, and according to reviews the next 2 books outdo the first one. Towards the end of the book we understand more of our prince Cardan, the person who likes to make Jude's life as difficult as possible.

Overall, this book was okay. I am looking forward to continuing the series as the books are meant to get stronger as you progress through them. Another decent fantasy book.
