This book is a perfectly executed modern faerie tale - it had me hooked from beginning to end and after finishing the first book I immediately went online to order the second and third. I loved the world that this book was set in, the sort of more traditional folklore faerie rather than a more typical YA fantasy, and I really enjoyed the small snippets that we would occasionally get of the real human world and how they existed alongside the fae.

The main character, Jude Duarte, was extremely likeable, in my opinion, as she has that strength and drive that I love seeing in main characters but without the awful “not like other girls” mentality that tends to crop up in other fantasy books with female protagonists. It was easy to support her throughout the book. I also loved the major plot twist at the end - I personally did not see it coming at all and loved the chaos it caused!

All in all, this is definitely one of my absolute favourite YA fantasy book series and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of traditional European faerie folklore!
