I started reading this series because of a random meme. But oh my goddd did I not expect it to become of of my favourites. I am a sucker for all things faeries so this was a delight in that aspect. The way they were represented was more closer to how they are believed to be, which was also nice to read.
Jude was and still is my favourite female lead. I loved the contrast of her not being powerful in the faerie world but also at the same time being a very strong and powerfull character (if that makes sense?). I definitely felt her frustration for when she couldn't influence things around her. This made it so that, when things did go to her plans it was just like, you as a reader, were winning with her and you feel that satisfaction. I also liked her characters development from being frustrated at not having power to then taking the power for herself. That is also one of my favourite things about her. She doesn't get the power from having someone of influence behind her or having some sort of amazing skill that makes her "different". She does it herself be being a cunning b****. Now that is empowerment. She is also morally grey (if you could call her that, considering she lives with fae!!) so that was also a nice change from a "good" female lead.
