This book is definitely a cult favorite. Everyone seems to enjoy this book and everyone seems to be ignoring all of its issues.I am 100% fine with the enemies to lovers trope there’s nothing wrong with it. however sometimes in these enemies to lovers books there is a lot of toxic and abusive behavior. my fear is that books like these promote abusive relationships without even knowing it. you are not going to find your perfect bad boy who has a sad life that you can suddenly fix that’s not gonna happen. This book is very problematic and I’m surprised that people aren’t talking about it. even though it doesn’t seem like it young people specially young girls might read a book like this and many other books like this and think that their relationship with their significant other is okay because even though they’re mean sometimes they can be nice. Aside from that very very important problem the book was overall written in nicely. Holly Black knows how to write fantasy novels and this could’ve been a favorite of mine if it weren’t for its inherent issues. I still plan on reading the next books in the series because I hope that there will be a very drastic character development and I hope the author will address these issues further on.
