I read the first few chapters of this book months before reading the whole thing and honestly felt like I wouldn't enjoy it. However, when I eventually got back to reading it I liked it more than I ever imagined possible.
I loved the way Black wrote all characters as realistic and flawed and she constantly keeps you questioning who you should trust. The ending left me desperate for the next book.
There is a lot of politics involved which is the part of the story I enjoyed the least but I feel like this was to help build up to the following two books storylines so is worth pushing through.
This a very dark fantasy with quite a lot of violence so probably not one for very young readers but for older teenagers and adults I think this is a very enjoyable story.
