I really didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did. Really everything from the world building to the character development, even just the style of writing was so well done and had me hooked from the very beginning.
This book would have been a 5/5 stars for me had it not been for the main character but that just comes down to my own personal opinion. I found her to be unlikeable and unrelatable for me personally but even so she was such a well-written and fleshed out character.
I went into this book knowing how hyped up the entire series was and honestly I didn’t think I would enjoy it even half as much as I did, but within a few hours of sitting down with this book I was finished and ready to pick up the second one!!
This is the first Holly Black book I’ve ever read and I just loved how magical her writing was. It truly takes a talent to be able to create such a realistic fantastical world like Elfelm and Holly Black did a remarkable job!
