I actually quite enjoyed the book to be honest! I found it quite difficult to really get into it at first but after a few chapters, it gets quite exciting. This is definitely a plot based book in my opinion, rather than linguistically, but I found it rather refreshing.

Jude as a character is quite interesting - we see her undergo quite a lot of change in this plot line. And let's be real, we all love a strong female protagonist. Cardan's persona also becomes more revealed to us. Not to mention the actual world that Holly Black has painted for us - a perfect atmosphere for escapism. Recurring themes of betrayal, love, loyalty, determination and so on.

The only thing I noticed about the story was that a lot of it seemed to be going right, which in my opinion slightly deters the reality of this fantasy world. However, that's only a minor thing and it's not to say that EVERYTHING goes to plan.

I would recommend this book if you're in the mood for an easy but effective form of escapism.
