I usually enjoy enemies to lovers but in this case, it wasn't appealing to me at all. The story-line starts off with a tragic scene with Jude's parents being murdered right in front of her and you expect the main character to have some sort of revenge story to avenge her family and yet this is doesn't happen. Instead, we get Jude literally living with the man that killed her parents? I never really understood why the writer had her do this. And then she enters some kind of tournament in which she has no special strength or intelligence to win. The characters don't really have any good character development and the plot just isn't there. The fantasy part of it wasn't explained properly almost like we were expected to know about it before we began reading it. There was nothing that kept me wanting to read on. It's just another typical YA fantasy with a cringe romance story.
