Black begins this tale with a brutal murder that leaves our main character, Jude, and her two sisters in the hands of the Redcap General: Madoc. The story follows the sisters as they each try to find their way, root and immerse themselves in the lives of the Fae who now surround them.

Jude quickly gets tangled in a game that involves many different sides and could result in a Civil War amongst the Court of Faerie.

Prince Carden is the youngest son of the High King, who is looking to step down from the throne. He is sarcastic, wicked and constantly finding ways to taunt Jude.

This book is the perfect blend of fantasy, wickedness and hints of romance with such detailed world building that the reader is eased into gently. I would highly recommend this book to fans of Sarah J Maas and Jennifer L Armentrout as I found the style of writing to be similar.
