Dark, disturbing ... and instantly appealing!

Whilst I haven't read any of the earlier books in this series, the opening pages make me feel confident that this one can be read as a stand-alone novel ... although I already have the feeling that I'm likely to pick up everything from Jane Casey's backlist! Her writing style is immediately engaging and promises a dark story which will prove to be full of unexpected twists and turns. Abuse of power and privilege feels like a very contemporary theme in today's society so I'm sure many scenarios and characters will feel all too familiar!
