I have actually read 'When the dead speak' by chance and whilst I realised it was part of a series I didn't realise quite how many novels or how accomplished Jane Casey was.
The length of this first impression is very generous and the cover leaves you in no doubt as to the nature of the book.

I really like the Maeve Kerrigan character and I liked this first impression and how it launched straight into the police at the crime scene, I will have to make a note to track down the other novels, because this insight still seemed vibrant.

The dialogue and rapport between the characters seems real and gives a real depth of character, and the story in typical crime thriller fashion has really drawn me in.

The quirky way in which the discovery of a severed hand was revealed was amusing, and I already know that the investiagtion of the dismemberments and the books title 'Cutting place' has the hallmarks of a good crime read
