This review is based on reading the first 39 pages.
This is a modern day police/crime story. It starts with the discovery of a hand on the banks of the River Thames by a Mudlarker and from this there is then a search for the rest of the body. Unfortunately, the police are only able to find pieces of the body but following a search of the DNA Database they are able to ascertain that the body parts belong to a 28 year old journalist, who was reported missing 8 days previously. The main characters are DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent, both likeable people and a good team. The book also delves into Maeve personal life, which gives a good insight to the person.
It is a dark story but most good crime stories are and this really is a good crime drama. It’s fast paced and intriguing and I cannot wait to read the rest of the book.
