The book follows detective marvel kerrigan and her partner derwent as they look in to the disappearance of journalist paige Hargreaves. The investigation takes leads them to the mysterious gentlemans club the chiron club. What, if anything do they have to do with the disappearance and what really goes on behind their gilded walls. We follow the investigation, never quite sure who is involved or who is just an innocent bystander caught up in this terrible crime. But as well as investigating murders maeve has her own secrets lurking in her past. Will they catch up with her before she finds the truth, or will they catch up with her first.
This is by far the best thriller I've read over the last few years. Its not stop action pulls you in, and its constant twists and turns keeps you hooked until the very last word. After reading this book I've bought all of Jane caseys other books because after reading this I know I've found an amazing new favourite author.
