I’ve followed Jane Casey right from her very first book in the Maeve Kerrigan and Josh Derwent detective series and every book I have loved. This one is without no exception, in fact it’s now one of my favourite books. With her and her husbands backgrounds immersing her in true crime, she’s the perfect author for an incredible crime book.
The book is based around DI Kerrigan looking into a case of a girl reported dead, found decapitated in a river. The plot follows the development of Kerrigans personal life and how the case of this Jane Doe develops and the secrets they discover in secret clubs within London.
I was confident who I thought the killer would be and why from the get go - boy how I was wrong. So many twists and turns, so many questions all answered in shocking ways.
Jane Casey also has a talent in writing topics that can be hard to deal with - assault, self harm etc, which she speaks about in an informative and yet sensitive manner.
I’ve loved her characters from the start and loved to see them develop. Their interactions are wonderful, and was always dying for the next book to see what would happen to them next.
