I’m actually ashamed to say that this is my first Jane Casey novel. Despite this being the ninth book in the series it worked just perfectly as a stand-alone. I was instantly endeared to detectives Maeve Kerrigan and Josh Derwent and can’t wait to read more about them.

The Cutting Place is an intense crime thriller, young journalist Paige disappears after investigating an elite gentleman’s club rumoured for its debauchery. The story is realistic, to the point it could be taken straight from a headline - tackling issues of wealth, power, male privilege and violence against women. I was gripped from the start, completely engrossed and kept guessing all the way through.
I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks readers first and Harper Collins for my copy to review!
