The author grabs attention from the beginning delving straight into the details of the grisly murder. It sparks interest and lots of unanswered questions which only grow as the book moves into events from 2 years prior to the murder case. Several characters are introduced and it is easy to like the working relationship between the 2 detectives. The addition of another case of a very different nature adds interest and wonder to see if the story will unravel about both cases and if they are linked. The writing style is very descriptive and helps to capture a vivid image in the mind. A good opening that made me want to read more and find out what was the outcome! As part of a series it would make me want to look for the other books too.
