I thoroughly enjoyed The Cutting Place. It's a great detective story that grips you right from the start when a dismembered hand is found on the banks of the Thames, leading to a murder investigation. Delving into suspicious activity at an elite gentlemen's club, detectives Maeve Kerrigan and Josh Derwent are a great team with an interesting history, although I didn't feel lost by not having read the previous books in the series. There is enough personal detail to flesh out their characters and make you care about them. The dual timelines and multiple plots are cleverly written and the story is fast paced, keeping you intrigued right up to the end. I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to catching up with the earlier books.
