I always enjoy a good thriller and as an avid reader of Karin Slaughter's book, I was looking forward to reading this as it is said to be in a similar vein.
I wasn't disappointed.
The opening pages hint at a somewhat obsessive slant to the investigating officer's relationship to the victim (I get the impression they were more than just school acquaintances) and secrets the protagonist would rather keep hidden.
The stark font and black, white & red image combine to present a cover full of foreboding which offers a certain melancholia.
