The book, the dark lake, is a murder mystery where the body was found in the lake. This title shows that there is darkness surrounding the crime as any clues would of been washed away by the water. It also shows how dark people secrets can be and when you find out that the detective knew the victim the secrets that are being hidden become even darker. The lake is the centre of the book as it is the only clue about the death. The whole book is spent trying to work out what actually happened and the ending is quite shocking. The detective is shown to be suspicious as she knew the person in the first place and was hiding it from the rest of the police and by the fact that she is hiding something else. The lake is shown to be a darkness that can shine light on the case.
