An Australian mystery set in the scorching hot summer around Christmastime . The descriptive writing almost makes the heat jump off the pages . So glad our own heatwave was over when I first bought this book !
Rosalind is a teacher at the local High School . Her body is found floating in the lake , surrounded by red roses . This alone adds to the feel of the book .
Detective Sergeant Gemma Woodstock is assigned to the case . She too is local . She is an interesting character . Definately not likeable , with many flaws . She lnew the murdered woman much better than she admits . The story flows between their time at school together and the present day . As the story unfolds there are so many twists and turns that every time I thought I knew what was going to happen I was very wrong !
