I absolutely love the cover of this book and it would definitely catch my eye in a book shop. After being able to read the first four chapters I am already hooked and there are so many things that I want to know and I just wanted to be able to keep reading.
Chapter 1 introduced us to Lizzie who we learn was drowned in a canal the same night after she left the pub whereby her boyfriend had been abusive towards her again. I was surprised that everyone was focused on restraining her boyfriend rather than helping make sure Lizzie was ok though. If this had happened she may not have found herself alone, late at night by the canal.
Chapter 2 sees us fast forwarded 4 months and introduces us to the defence lawyer Dan Grant who has been assigned to represent Peter Box, the man who has been arrested for Lizzie's murder. I am intrigued to find out what will happen at the trial as Peter Box has remained silent throughout all interviews.
Chapter 3 introduces Jayne, a private investigator and we learn that Dan Grant helped her when she was faced with a murder charge.
Finally Chapter 4 sees an offer being made to Dan Grant by his boss Pat and he has just said he has an important story to tell him which I think has a link to the Peter Box trial. I am so intrigued to find out what happens next and think Neil White's writing style is really engaging.
