I really enjoyed this! I wasn't familiar with the author but am already seeking out his earlier work. It will be good to find out the history of Dan and Jayne's relationship. Maybe the earlier book From The Shadows will enlighten me? It's always good to find a new crime writer/series to enjoy. I loved the relationship between Dan and Jayne and also the respectful relationship between Dan and Pat. I liked the Northern setting and how the canal system was incorporated into the story. Some parts were quite graphic and really made me cringe, but that's not a bad thing in a crime thriller! Towards the end I thought the pace really picked up, and I couldn't wait for the story to unravel. I thought the cover was great too. Eerie and a good fit to the story.
