Initially, I was drawn to the plot of this book. I liked the idea of a dinner party made up of people alive or passed and perhaps who you haven't met; Audrey Hepburn, for example.

As I began to read the story I discovered that it was heavy with meaning and very deep with emotions. The latter comes from the main character of whom the story is told by, Sabrina. We learn that she has had a lot of loss in her life and many events that have brought her to her dinner party heavy with the weight of negative feeling.

The story flits from present day (the dinner party) to the past which clues the reader up on the characters and how they have shaped Sabrina.
I feel that this would be a great book for students to analyse as it's clear that every feature is there for a reason. It would take more in-depth analysing on the readers part to truly unpick each role.

The book is of the magic realism genre, which I really enjoy. It's based on fate which had me thinking in between reading.
There was one moment that made my heart beat rapidly with surprise.

Overall, recommended to students and avid readers.
