I had high hopes for this novel as lets face it we have all played the fantasy dinner party game and which five people (dead or alive) you would invite, what woyld you eat, what topics would you cover, how would the evening flow.
So a really good plot for a novel. I did find though that the drama in the book took you off on an unwelcome tangent which at times made me exasperated.
A missed opportunity I feel to write a really interesting and exciting dinner party novel keeping magic and excitement central to the premise of the book.
However the characters were well portrayed, the descriptions atmospheric and overall the plot was good. I just felt something was lacking and could see the book differently.
