This book flickers between her past relationship with a boyfriend and a dinner which she is having with people on her fictional 'dinner list'. All through the first half of the book I struggled with this as it is very 'fairy tale' and unbelievable. It is difficult to understand how and why this is happening, is she dreaming?
I did enjoy getting to know about her and why she chose these specific people. It is definitely one of those questions that you get asked as an ice breaker 'so who would you choose to bring, alive or dead?'
The second half of the book is where it pulled me in and it all got very real and emotional. By this stage I had unknowingly connected to the character and her relationship. (Don’t want to give away any spoilers!) The previous rather jolly tone gets crushed with three words. Which I didn’t see this twist coming.
The writing style was just what I enjoy, short chapters, kept me reading so it only took me one sitting to finish this book.
