From the start this extract is incredibly moving! It follows the life of a young girl as she begins to lose her sight and has to learn to navigate the world. She goes from reflecting on the times she could see well to noticing her sight slowly slipping away. It is written in a simplistic way which perfect reflects the character who is in Year 5. Her rapidly losing sight is referred to as her 'darkness" which is a fascinating use of words and could have plenty of meanings!
It is definitely a book I would like to read more of and find out what happens to this young girl and how she deals with a life changing disease.
