My first opinion when I looked at the cover of this book was that it must be a modern read. It is bright, with a well-defined font and somewhat cartoonish images. I was therefore surprised when I read that it was set in the eighteenth century. Whilst the plot itself sounds interesting, I feel as though I would be unlikely to pick up this book purely because of its front cover. I know its wrong to judge books this way, but we all do it!
