Okay, the cover is beautiful, and the writing is too

From the first page, the few sentences it contained, I was completely hooked. The style of writing is both magical, as well as avoiding the cliches that a lot of fantastical books hold. And, it seems to be set in a time frame I adore, and one I've learnt a lot about, so hopefully, that will bring me even more enjoyment of the book. The cover is exquisite, and although I know it shouldn't dictate my enjoyment of this book, it reminds me of The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry - another book I really want to get around to. Although I'd need to read more to fully form an opinion on any of the centrical characters, I really like the look of Mim, especially as her narrative is so interestingly written.
