The cover initially made me think the book was either for young adults or possibly a funny chick lit book (Sophie Kinsella, Catherine Alliott etc). I was therefore surprised and delighted to find it is a serious, though humorous, story about a travelling fair set in 18th century Britain. Mim and Alex are beautifully portrayed and the language is delightful and really sets the scene.
