A lovely little story set in a Georgian sideshow. For anyone who has struggled to find out who they truly are. The addition of posters, drawings and articles are a nice touch and give you a bit more of a feel for the era. The characters are well written, even the grumpy linguistic parrot. Min is a very self aware, humorous mixed race girl trying to find her place. Alex, a one armed boxer who is a very sweet and caring boy. With "feelings" starting to develop between the two of them. Is it true love? Maybe, and then Dr Fox turns up with his kit of electric magic. Turning mim into the electrical Venus. For a penny you can have one of her electrical kisses. I'd highly recommend this book if you like an easy to get into little love story.....with a little bit of electrickery.
