I love all things carnival and all things magical, so I was really really excited when I found this book in my local library. The cover and the premise of the book really appealed to me, but I just couldn’t get into it.
In all honesty, I didn’t finish the book. I got a few chapters in but the narrative of the book just didn’t sit well with me, it felt kind of off?
I felt confused and couldn’t completely keep up with the story. I found myself reading a page and realising I hadn’t really taken much of it in and then having to read over it again.
I suspect it’s more to do with me as it is with the book as it has amazing reviews but I just couldn’t get into it.
I still gave it three starts because the cover art is beautiful and the idea for the book still really appeals to me!
