Fleetwood is a woman married to a man of means but she begins to question all she knows of her husband when she finds that he was warned that if she became pregnant again that she may not live through the pregnancy. In an era where the woman is the property of the man she encounters a young girl in the woods who is able to roam free around the countryside. As tales of witchcraft spread throughout the county Fleetwood finds herself drawn to this woman and to what she can offer her as a means of escaping her pregnancy.
