This novel is set around the time of the witch trials in Lancashire, which is automatically a very interesting if horrible part of history. The main character is fairly likeable - even if she seems a little clueless about the lives of those not as fortunate as her. The developing storyline shows promise, even though I imagine it might have quite a horrible ending.
