Wow, an excellent, fast paced literary delight that throws the reader straight into the action. No long, lengthy descriptions of scenery or clothes to fill up the pages, but action from the start. The reader feels an affiliation and empathy with the heroine Fleetwood from the opening lines and this carries you along so you want to find out more. Although in the 17th centuary women had very little rights and power, you feel that Fleetwood is strong and will fight. However, the reader also feels a sense of injustice for her from the start and a longing that she find refuge and help. Will she find this in Alice? Read on.......
