Historical fiction is my favourite genre and this did not disappoint although at points I did feel some of the language was not in keeping with the language of the time the book was set. I loved the character development and I readily felt that you got to know the characters in a very organic way but the book draws you in and makes you really feel for the characters. It was clear the author had done her research into the Witch trials and this came over very well in the book. Although I’m aware you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover it would be impossible to review without mentioning how beautiful the cover for this book was and I loved that it actually depicted the story also. Overall 4 stars but a fabulous read.
