I don't usually read historical fiction but found the story concept intriguing. Unfortunately, I did not feel that this lived up to the hype. I found it very slow, particularly in the first half of the book.
I would of liked more story focused on the witches and the trials.
I found it also hard to believe that she would be allowed to galavant around the countryside by herself on a horse.
The revelations of what her husband was doing and her acceptance and easy forgiveness did not really fit well considering she was portrayed as being more independent for the time period.
I did not really grow to like any of the characters but did sympathise with her regarding the miscarriages which were painful to read about.
I feel that the characters did not really jump out of the page and particularly her husband, I had no interest in whatsoever.
