I have had this book on my bookshelf a while and it was a definite Judge-A-Book-By-Its-Cover pick! It's just beautiful!
Historical Fiction isnt my usual genre so I wasnt sure whether I would enjoy it but I can honestly say I LOVED IT!
This book is a work of fiction but the characters are all real from the Pendle Witches Trials in 1612. I have always been a bit fascinated with the witch trials and as much as this book didnt go into too much detail about them, it gave you an insight into how the trials came about.
I loved Fleetwood from the beginning, her husband Richard not so much!
Fleetwood is the kind of woman every woman should be! She is kind, feisty, bolshy, not afraid to speak her mind, loving and caring and I loved her friendship with Alice who also had the same traits as her, even though they were from totally different backgrounds!
It kept me wanting to read more and find out what happened both to Fleetwood and Alice and I was rooting for them both!
If you enjoyed The Giver of Stars (which I loved!) Then you will love this! And even if historical fiction isnt usually your genre, this book is the perfect book to read, as its not all historical and very much relevant to today!
