I love this book! Set in the time of the witch trials in England. The story sets the scene of a lady of gentry acquiring the help of a local midwife/Wisewoman, who is then charged with Witchcraft. The story tells us of the great injustices of the witch trials and the choking reality of women in the 17th century.
I am so happy someone has written about the 'pendle witches' in a humanising sense. I hope that people will come to remember them as midwives and healers, rather than evil devil worshippers. The writing is captivating, i read the whole thing in a day! It is descriped as vividly as if you were standing in the corner of the characters manor. Cannot wait for the next book from Stacey!
