I read this book earlier this year after having it recommended it to me and it did not disappoint! I was unsure at first as it isn’t my usual genre but the combination of magical elements with history really intrigued me. I finished the book in less than a week and pre-ordered the second straight away!

The uncertainty of the protagonists pregnancy along with the threat of nearby witch trials left me constantly wanting to read more. I found myself unable to predict the events of the last few chapters (which I am normally able to do) maintained an element of mystery which I really enjoyed.

The only drawback of this book for me was the relatively long chapters as I find shorter chapters easier to read on busy days. However, once I was intrigued in the plot of the story this was no longer a problem!

If you are usually a fan of fantasy and love history, in particular the witch craze, I would highly recommend this book.
