Beautiful cover!
Let’s kick this off by acknowledging the beauty that is the cover of this book. SO PRETTY. This was a bit of a slow burner, I found the first part quite boring but it all started kicking off at the start of part 2, which got me a bit more interested. I didn’t feel that the language fit into the time period, it felt a bit too modern or casual to what I was expecting. There were times when I felt uncomfortable with the age of the main character, but I understand this would’ve been the norm in the 17th century, so I won’t let this affect my review. I was surprised with the ending, as I felt that a certain character seemed to be forgiven entirely for their actions even thought they probably shouldn’t have! Overall it was a good interesting take on the story of the Pendle witches, a part of history I wasn’t particular familiar with initially.
