I devoured this book in a day. It was truly beautiful. I am really interested in witchcraft and the 16th century and Hall depicted it perfectly.

Although set in the 16th century Hall manages to weave in some modern-day issues without it becoming implausible - that takes true talent.

The book follows a young nobel-woman who is with child again. She has miscarried a couple of times and the family are growing impatient. Her husband seems considerate and calm at the beginning of the novel but you will soon grow to become weary of him.

Where does the best medicine come from during these times? Witches! If you want to call them that, I prefer women who have a clever understanding of nature! Witches are on trial and one of which is currently helping the protagonist with her pregnancy. The novel explores the secrecy and affection between the two characters and explores the misunderstanding and suspicions of the time.

This is a beautiful book. The cover is beautiful and the insides are too!
