Although the premise about witches made me unsure about it initially, the mystery intrigue and knowing that the title is based on true historical events and that the characters were real people definitely added value to the story for me.
I was drawn into the book right from the beginning and engaged throughout. I liked how the young female protagonist grew in herself as the story developed, moving from being a women in the sideline who exists only to produce an heir to realising she has a voice, using her privileged status and connections for what she believes in.
