I was a bit worried when I read in the blurb that the main character was a 17 year old girl that I was entering into a young adult fiction, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The main character is likeable and the opening of the book is strong with empathy for the character created quickly.

There is no painfully deliberate points of exposition, the story and characters unfold in an easy to read way that feels very natural.
A lot of the setup is done by one character telling another a story of something that happened. This makes it feel very comfortable to read as it is almost conversational.

The story is intriguing and seems to have a lot of scope. There also seems to be a lot of characters to consider as the story moves forward.
