I love love loved this! I found that even though it was set in 1612, the language was still readable which I sometimes struggle with other books set so far in the past. The language flowed nicely and I didn’t feel that any of the story was unnecessary which is a main part for me when determining how to review a book. I loved that this book was filled with humour, it had me giggling in places - which I really didn’t expect. I also love that it had modern day themes running through it that you might find it modern contemporary books. The Familiars has inspired me to look a little deeper into the Pendle witches and find out more about them. I definitely need to get around to purchasing The Foundlings now!
