This book was recommended to me by Waterstones and having just finished The Binding, I was a little reticent to read something that seemed so similar in genre. I needn't have worried, this is a lovely book.

It focuses on an historical event that I was totally unaware of. The Pendle witch trials and uses real people to weave a fictional narrative. I found it both engaging and compelling.

It is a great study of family dynamics, female friendship and the power discrepancies of the time. Between rich and poor and men and women. I really wasn't sure how it was going to end and I wasn't dIsappointed.

It is also has a beautifully produced and designed jacket.

Oh and she has a loyal dog too.
